Would you believe that before I started my sex toy party business over five years ago I had never used a vibrator or any sort of toy? I started selling vibrators before I had even experienced one for myself! Crazy, right? Thankfully, with the discount I enjoyed, I got to treat myself to all sorts of fun goodies for the first time ever, including this little baby right here. The company I used to sell for called it Put a Ring on It, but it's since been discontinued by them, only to be found for purchase by the original manufacturer, Jopen (whose products I'm realizing I really love, as most of my favorite toys are made by them), and is called the Pyxis finger massager (part of their Key line).
One of the first draws for me was that it's a clitoral vibe. Being a girl who prefers a lot of clitoral stimulation, the Pyxis had my name all over it. It's small, as you can see from the first image, so it didn't feel scary to bring into the bedroom, to play on my own or with my partner. I thought it would be a great little accessory for solo or partner time (and I was right). The different pulsation and vibration patterns really intrigued me too.
Of less interest to me, but still a bonus, was the fact that it's rechargeable via USB, and splashproof for shower fun (because sometimes you just need to lock yourself in the bathroom and get it done yourself, am I right?).
When I finally got mine in and got to use it, I was not disappointed! Over the years, you can guess that the dildo lady has collected some toys in her time, and you'd be right. I have a collection probably nearing or over 20 different vibrators. This little guy here is always my favorite.
Overall satisfaction:
I love this toy. Like I said above, it is easily my favorite, and when I'm looking for a little extra buzzy fun, Pyxis is 99% of the time the toy I reach for.
Size:
Pyxis is tiny. I mean, just look at the picture above. It fits in the palm of my hand, can easily be stowed away in a purse or a pocket, and sometimes a toy that doesn't look like a toy is great for those who may prefer a little more privacy when it comes to how they choose to spice things up in the bedroom -- if it falls out of your purse, or a kid happens upon it, or TSA decides to hold it up in the middle of the airport and ask you very loudly "WHAT'S THIS????", it can easily be explained away as a "headache massager", at which point, you can snatch it back, hold it to your temples, and demonstrate.
The size also makes it easy to use with a partner for pretty much any position you can manage to get yourself into. It doesn't take up much room at all, so you or your partner can easily fit it into whatever space for stimulation.
Color:
Now, I know my clitoris doesn't have eyes, and yours/your partner's doesn't either (probably?), but this one comes in all sorts of fun colors! The one I have is purple, because at the time, it was the only color I knew existed, but if you head over to SheVibe you'll see it comes in pink and turquoise/teal (they call it blue) as well! If I'd known about the pink one before I'd gotten my purple one I would have been all about it. So if you have a color preference, know that you can pick your favorite!
Pulsation/vibration:
The Pyxis boasts 5 different pulsation/vibration patterns, and I genuinely enjoy every single one. Some toys have different pulsations and vibrations that are either too strong or not strong enough, mixed in with a few good ones, but I honestly have to say there isn't a vibration setting on the Pyxis that I don't enjoy. It really just depends on my mood which one(s) I end up going with. Of course, this is very subjective, and your preferences may be different from mine. It's all about trial and error and experimenting to determine which are your favorites, and which ones you may not enjoy as much.
Versatility:
So, essentially, regardless of how a toy is marketed, you can literally use any toy however you like. I know at the beginning of this review, I refer to the Pyxis as a clitoral vibe, and that's mostly how it was marketed when I first had access to it, but I believe all the marketing is updated to be more body and gender inclusive, as it should be. You can use this on a clitoris, on labia, on nipples, on a penis or testicles, on a perineum. You can use it for sensual massage. You can use it on the end of fingers for vaginal massage and stimulation. You can hold it against your mouth during oral sex to add a little vibration, regardless of the genitals receiving the sex. Because of its size and shape, it really does lend itself easily and readily to a whole host of positions and stimulations, so let your imagination go wild with this one.
Material:
So pretty much any toy I'm going to use has to be body safe silicone, tempered glass, or hypoallergenic metal. The Pyxis is no different and is made of pthalate free silicone. It has a very velvety feel to the touch and is seamless on all the surfaces that may come in contact with you or your partner's body. This makes it really glide when in use, especially when using a lubricant (which we pretty much do any time we have sex anyway).
Power:
Pyxis is rechargeable! I'd have to say, I think all of my favorite toys are. Who has time to fuss with batteries anymore anyway? It's 2018. The only minor downside to its rechargeability is the power cord it comes with, and the connection points on the toy. The charger it comes with is magnetic, adhering to the toy via two metal connection points. Because it doesn't latch on or click in, it's easy to accidentally disconnect the charger if you bump or jostle it while it's charging, and not even realize it, so just be aware to set it somewhere out of the way (can't imagine why you wouldn't do that anyway), and double check to make sure the light comes on to indicate that it's charging. It's also only a USB cord, so unless you have an AC adapter (which, thankfully, SheVibe does provide), you'll have to plug it into your computer, laptop, or a car adapter to charge it.
Sound:
Another minor drawback, and this just may be mine or due to how long I've had it, is that the quietness of Pyxis leaves a bit to be desired. I'm someone who's easily taken out of my sexy headspace by sounds or smells or even my foot itching, so hearing the constant patterned buzz of the Pyxis can be a bit distracting. I feel like I do remember it being much quieter when I first got it, so it's possible that it's just gotten louder over time. If sounds don't bother you as much, or discretion isn't the biggest concern for you, then the level of noise might be a nonissue for you.
Water friendliness:
Pyxis is waterproof! This is great for shower play, pool fun, or hot tub shenanigans. Also makes it easy to clean.
Overall, I cannot overstate how much I love my Pyxis. It's fun, compact, easy to use, and packs a pretty powerful punch for its size. I definitely recommend this!
